Bjorn Borg backs ‘unbelievable’ Novak Djokovic for more success and expects Rafael Nadal to continue

Bjorn Borg has predicted that Rafael Nadal will soon retire but believes that fellow veteran Novak Djokovic will win more Grand Slam singles titles.

Following the retirement of Roger Federer and the surgeries undergone by Andy Murray, Nadal and Djokovic are the last two of tennis’ ‘big four’ to remain credible challengers for the Grand Slams on the men’s side of the sport.

Djokovic and Nadal are both battling against the passage of time as they look to add a few remaining titles to their CVs before they are forced to hang up their racquets.

Borg believes that Nadal will be satisfied with his career, but there is limited time remaining for him on court.

He said: “I think Rafa [Nadal], like you said, he’s not going to be in the top 10 for so many years now. But I think he’s a very happy guy.

“I mean, what he achieved in tennis, he will still want to continue to play. Maybe the body is not working 100%, but he still wants to play.”

As for the chances of former world No. 1 Djokovic, he said: “Novak [Djokovic], I think he might win one or two more Grand Slam tournaments.

“Who knows? But he is doing it not for himself but for tennis and journalists. Unbelievable. He’s still pushing the limits. He wants to be the greatest.

Corretja ‘very impressed’ by Djokovic breaking astonishing Graf record of weeks at world No. 1

“He wants to win more tournaments, break all the records in tennis history. I mean, he is a fantastic player.

“But to have these guys involved with tennis, you never know what Rafa is going to do, maybe play one more year. I don’t know.

“It is up to him mentally or his body or whatever. But Novak is going to be around for a few more years.”
