Florida State announced on Thursday that Ta’Niya Latson, their star freshman, will miss the NCAA Tournament with an undisclosed injury.

Leading up to the unknown injury, Latson was the best player in the ACC. She averaged 21.3 points per game and hit double digit points in 29 of 31 games this season. She also set the single-season conference freshman scoring record with 659 total points, and was named ACC Rookie of the Year.

“We with our medical team and our group as a whole, along with Ta’Niya, just decided that she wouldn’t be ready for this tournament unfortunately,” FSU coach Brooke Wyckoff said at a press conference on Thursday via Rivals. “We’re going to miss her but we’re still really excited about this matchup and this opportunity.”

O’Mariah Gordon, FSU’s leading scorer off the bench, will also miss the remainder of the season with an undisclosed injury. She averaged 6.9 points per game.

This is the second piece of major injury news to come out of the ACC on Thursday morning. Earlier in the day, Notre Dame announced that their star sophomore Olivia Miles has been ruled out of the tournament with a knee injury.

Florida State, seeded seventh, will face No. 10 Georgia on Friday at 1:30 p.m. EDT.
