2022 QBE Shootout odds: Jason Day’s team slight betting favorite in Florida

The QBE Shootout is an annual December event pitting teams of two pros against each other at Tiburón Golf Course in Florida, and this year’s field is one of the best yet. According to the QBE Shootout betting odds via BetMGM, the team of Jason Day and Billy Horschel are the betting favorites. Here’s what you need to know.

2022 QBE Shootout odds: This week’s favorites

Despite its placement on the calendar and its unofficial status, this week’s event is not an exhibition. There’s real money on the line, to the tune of $3.5 million. And the way the oddsmakers see it, there’s one team in particular with the best chance to take home the $950,000 winner’s share: Day and Horschel.

Tiger Woods watches Justin Thomas during the final round of the Hero World Challenge.

Horschel has been one of the most consistent players over the past few years, and Jason Day is a former World No. 1 and major champion who is in the process of turning his game around and re-entering the elite ranks of the PGA Tour. Together, their pedigrees earned them odds-to-win of +500 for the Shootout.

The teams of Harris English and Matt Kuchar and Tom Hoge and Sahith Theegala come in tied for a close second in odds-to-win at +600, so this is far from a lock for Day and Horschel.

2022 QBE Shootout odds: Long shot of the week

With such a small-field and a non-traditional format, it’s no easy task picking a long shot for the Shootout. So the best strategy is to go to the bottom of the odds-to-win list and see if anyone stands out.

Nelly Korda

‘The uncertainty of that was the scariest’: Nelly Korda opens up after emotional win

While future QBE Shootouts will feature all mixed teams of PGA and LPGA Tour pros, this year’s event already has two such groups. Nelly Korda and Denny McCarthy make up one of them. Korda is currently the World No. 2 in the women’s game, and McCarthy is a consistent performer who finished T7 at the 2022 U.S. Open.

Korda and McCarthy’s odds-to-win for the week sit at +2800, which is second to last. Their skill deserves better, making them a great longshot pick for the week. Should they pull off a win, they could turn your small $10 bet into $280.
