Alberta reverses ban on UFC gambling after promotion shutters house of Krause

Alberta Gaming Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) commission banned gambling on UFC fights earlier this month in an effort to protect bettors from any residual funny business in the wake of the James Krause wagering scandal at UFC Vegas 64.

That ban has since been lifted.

“With the recent announcement by the UFC that Krause, his managers and fighters will not be permitted to participate in UFC events, pending Nevada State Athletic Commission’s investigation, Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) has reinstated UFC betting markets on PlayAlberta.ca,” the commission told MMA Fighting.

The promotion promptly issued a company-wide ban on wagering and removed Krause-coached fighters from the active roster while the situation remains under investigation. That said, UFC betting remains banned in both Ontario and New Jersey.

“Protecting consumers in Alberta is of the utmost importance to AGLC. We will remain vigilant in monitoring the situation and ensure players continue to have safe and secure gaming opportunities on Play Alberta.”

Krause fighters remain vigilant and continue to “wait for justice.”
